How to use your diffuser?

Tips and maintenance

Diffusing? This is possible in different ways. Ultrasonic or by air pressure: the choice is yours. Good maintenance is essential in both cases. Discover here the different stages in the cleaning process and pick up some useful tips that will give your diffuser a long and happy life.

Treat your diffuser with care

Regular and correct cleaning of your DROP diffuser is the best way to ensure that it has a long life and performs optimally. It is important to follow the specific cleaning procedure, depending on the model. You can find the full procedure in the instruction manual that comes with your diffuser.

How to clean? Tips for long-term use Problem solving

Cleaning procedure

Treat your diffuser gently and with care. Avoid using too much force and/or sharp objects during the cleaning process.

General cleaning procedures for ultrasonic diffusers:

  • Always switch off the diffuser before starting to clean it.
  • Remove any remaining water and essential oil from the diffuser.
  • Use a cotton swab to clean the ultrasonic plate.
  • Dilute some alcohol in warm water to clean the water reservoir and the outside of the diffuser with a damp cloth.

General cleaning procedures for aromatic diffusers:

    • Always switch off the diffuser before starting to clean it.
    • Remove the bottle of essential oil from the diffuser.
    • Remove the tube from the diffuser.
    • Dilute some alcohol in warm water to clean the inside and outside of the diffuser with a damp cloth.
    • Clean the tube and the vapour outlet with warm water. Soak the tube in alcohol for 3 to 5 minutes to make sure the inside is cleaned properly.

      How often to clean?

I use the diffuser every day

Your diffuser should be cleaned after every five to six uses or every two to three days.

I only use the diffuser sporadically

Clean your diffuser whenever you switch from one kind of essential oil to another or when you have not used the device for quite some time.

It is best to use a neutral cleaning agent. Never use products that contain acids, enzymes or detergents. Residues of these substances can remain behind in the water reservoir, which, when mixed with essential oils, can give off toxic gases that can damage the diffuser.

A long life for your DROP diffuser

To get the best out of your DROP diffuser and to ensure its long life, it is important to take account of a few simple precautionary measures.

      1. Clean the diffuser regularly. Ideally, we recommend that you clean the device after every five or six uses or after two or three days. Never use detergent-based, corrosive or abrasive agents. Use alcohol instead.
      2. Only use clean water at room temperature to fill the water reservoir. A (measuring) jug can be useful for this purpose. If you fill the reservoir directly from the tap, there is a risk that some drops of water will leak inside the diffuser.*
      3. Never fill the diffuser above the maximum water level (marked with a line).*
      4. Once the diffuser has been filled with water, do not move it again. Position it on a flat and firm surface, so that water cannot leak.*
      5. Never switch on the diffuser if the water reservoir is empty.*
      6. Ensure that the free flow of air cannot become blocked. Never cover the diffuser when it is in use.
      7. Do not direct the dispersed vapour at walls, ceilings, clothing, fabrics and the surfaces of furniture. Also keep the diffuser away from other electrical devices. Condensation from the vapour can cause moisture-related damage.*
      8. Keep the adapter away from water.
      9. Do not position the diffuser in direct sunlight and keep it away from air-conditioning units and ventilators.
      10. Keep the diffuser out of the reach of young children.
      11. Never attempt to repair or replace the component parts of the diffuser.
      12. Essential oils can cause staining. If oil is spilt, wipe it up immediately with a clean, dry cloth.

Problem? Perhaps you can find the solution here!

Not all diffusers work in the same way. For this reason, some of the following problems may not be relevant for your type of diffuser. Every type has a two-year factory guarantee.

      Possible cause

      • Use of the wrong kind of water; for example, tap water containing a high level of minerals.
      • No water in the reservoir.
      • The battery is not charged.
      • The power supply is not (properly) connected.

      Solution

      • Used distilled or purified water.
      • Add water.
      • Connect the adapter.
      • Remove the adapter from the diffuser, check the cable and insert the adapter back into the power socket.

      Possible cause

      • Essential oils are stuck to the ultrasonic plate.
      • The amount of water is higher than the maximum level.
      • The covering case has not been fitted properly.
      • The tube has come loose or is blocked (Urban aroma diffuser).

      Solution

      • Clean the diffuser as recommended in the instruction manual, using clean water. Clean the ultrasonic plate with a cotton swab.
      • Clean the diffuser and half fill the reservoir with water. Add extra water once vapour starts to be produced. Alternatively, remove any excess water and restart the diffuser.
      • Hold your fingers over the air outlet to check that air is flowing out. Replace the covering case.
      • Remove, clean and replace the tube (Urban aroma diffuser).

      Possible cause

      • The water is too cold.
      • The covering case is not properly fitted.

      Solution

      • Replace the cold water with warmer water.
      • Remove the lid or the covering case and replace it correctly.

      Possible cause

      • Condensation has accumulated in the top part of the covering case.
      • The water level indicator is dirty.

      Solution

      • Tap lightly on the covering case to remove the accumulated condensation.
      • Clean the diffuser with clean water and clean the ultrasonic plate with a cotton swab, in accordance with the product instructions.

      Possible cause

      • The water is too cold.

      Solution

      • Replace the cold water with warmer water.

      Possible cause

      • There is no (or not enough) water in the reservoir.
      • The power cable is not correctly fitted.

      Solution

      • Add water to the reservoir. If there is no water or insufficient water in the reservoir, the diffuser will switch itself off automatically.
      • Disconnect the adapter, check the cable and reconnect it carefully.

      Possible cause

      • The water level indicator is dirty.

      Solution

      • Clean the diffuser with clean water and clean the ultrasonic plate with a cotton swab, in accordance with the product instructions.
