Frequently asked questions about diffusers

The DROP ultrasonic diffusers make use of ultrasonic technology, which allows the water in the unit to be vibrated by high-frequency sound waves. This creates an ultra-fine vapour that is ideal for humidifying the air in the spaces where you live and work. When you add essential oils, these are also dispersed in the air, together with the water. This generates a relaxed or stimulating atmosphere, depending on the oil used. It is a technique that can be used in bedrooms, living rooms, waiting rooms, offices, etc.

Most of the diffusers in the DROP range require water to be added before they can be used. The exception to this is the Urban Aroma diffuser. This diffuser disperses essential oil directly from the bottle into the surrounding air. The bottle containing the essential oil is screwed directly into the nozzle head. In other words: no risk of spillage! For that reason, the Urban diffuser is handy for use in your car. It also has an autonomous battery capacity of 5.5 to 6.5 hours.

Yes! DROP ultrasonic diffusers can indeed be used to humidify the air in your living and working spaces. They disperse an aromatic vapour that is a mix of water and essential oil in the form of millions of micro-particles. In this way, they both moisten the atmosphere and spread a subtle fragrance. The exception to this is the Urban Aroma diffuser, which disperses essential oil directly from a bottle into the surrounding air.

The diffusion of essential oils in children's rooms is largely dependent on the oil you want to use. As a general rule, children can safely inhale diffused essential oils from the age of six years onwards. An exception to this rule can be made for two particularly mild essential oils, which can be inhaled from the age of three years onwards. Eucalyptus radiata is ideal for treating colds and blocked noses in young children. True lavender is perfect for helping them to relax and fall asleep at night.

It is always advisable to consult your pharmacist, aromatherapist or doctor before using essential oils with young(er) children.

Of course! Wireless diffusion is possible with the Urban Aroma diffuser, which has a battery with a maximum charging capacity of roughly six hours.

The best way to diffuse essential oils, so that you can optimally enjoy both their pleasing aromas and their therapeutic benefits, is via micro-dispersion. We recommend you to always use high-quality essential oils. It would be a pity to lose all the good things that essential oils can bring by buying cheap oils and/or by using them incorrectly. In particular, the oils lose many of their beneficial components once they are heated. With cold micro-dispersion, the essential oils are diffused as an aromatic vapour in the form of millions of micro-droplets. This allows you to experience both their delightful fragrances and their far-reaching positive effects on your health and well-being.

A spray can also disperse droplets of essential oil, but these droplets are much too big to be inhaled effectively. Sprays are therefore useful for purifying the air or for applying essential oils locally to the skin.

The sound waves that vibrate the water in the diffuser are not irritating or upsetting for pets like cats and dogs. These waves have a frequency of between 2.4 MHz and 3 MHz, which is outside the frequency range of these animals. The range of cats, for example, only reaches as far as 0.045 MHz. The range of dogs is even lower: they can only hear sounds with a frequency of up to 0.04 MHz.

Essential oils can be used in different ways to enjoy their many beneficial effects on your health and well-being. This can be achieve by oral intake, inhalation or absorption directly into the skin.

Breathing in the vapour of essential oils can have specific effects on the body, depending on the oil used. The nose and the olfactory system are linked directly to the brain and can therefore send signals to the parts of the brain that regulate the emotions and our hormonal systems. This makes it possible, for example, to improve sleep and stimulate concentration. Other possible benefits include the soothing of the airways, freer breathing (by unblocking the nose), greater relaxation, keeping insects at bay, and purifying the air.

Yes, all DROP diffusers are BPA free. BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a chemical substance found in various plastic items. Because it is very controversial and linked to fertility problems and a disrupted hormonal system, we consider it important that all our products are BPA free.
